About Us

Our Mission

The Psychological Center is the training clinic of CCNY’s Clinical Psychology Doctoral program, a well-established psychology-training program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Our mission is to make high-quality psychodynamic therapy, evidence-based treatments, and psychological/neuropsychological testing more accessible by providing sliding scale-services based on financial need in a community setting. All services are provided by doctoral students in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at CCNY who are supervised by licensed clinical psychologists.

Inclusion

The Psychological Center does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities, operations, or provisions of mental health services. Furthermore, we are committed to providing culturally appropriate, sensitive, and respectful services and to the maintenance of the dignity and privacy of all clients. In accordance with APA ethical guidelines, all service providers at The Psychological Center are dedicated to safeguarding the welfare and rights of those whom they serve professionally.

Confidentiality

The Psychological Center is dedicated to maintaining your privacy and confidentiality. Our commitment to confidentiality means that we will not disclose any details of your treatment or personal information to anyone outside The Psychological Center without your explicit written consent. There are legal and ethical exceptions to this rule. We are bound by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which mandates that confidentiality must be breached under certain circumstances to protect your safety and that of others. Your therapist will discuss these policies with you and we invite you to raise questions or concerns regarding our confidentiality policy or any other aspect of your treatment with your assigned therapist.

COVID-19

In light of the ongoing pandemic, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our patients and staff. While masks are optional, we encourage patients to communicate their specific needs with their providers. If you are feeling unwell or have any symptoms, we kindly request you contact us to reschedule for when you are well.
